Inaugural
training camps were held in Thunder Bay in the Summer of 2005.

CORE Hockey youth hockey camps ran the first
two weeks of August for atoms,
peewees, bantams and midgets.

All groups
were on the ice for three hours each day, Monday through Friday
-
While the
atom and peewee camps were open to all, the bantam and midget camps
brought out the best AAA talent in the area.

CORE Hockey also held a four week long
training camp for the area NHL and
professional hockey players.

Eric Staal,
Trevor Letowski, Ryan Johnson, Alex Auld, Taylor Pyatt and Patrick
Sharp
were just a few of the local NHLers to skate in the pro camp, as
well as making
guest appearances as instructors with the youth camps.

CORE Hockey was contracted to provide clinics
throughout the winter for other Northern
Ontario communities including Big Trout Lake and Gull Bay.

Season 2 of
CORE Hockey Elite Training Camps was even more
successful than
Season 1, with each age group, atom through midget, drawing more
than 35 players, thanks mainly to the positive word of mouth
generated by Season 1 skaters and parents.

CORE Hockey provided and strives to maintain
excellent instructor to student ratios(1:6).

The NHL and
pro talent once again flocked to the First Nation’s ice arena to
participate in
the month long training camp.

CORE Hockey also ran a showcase for player
agent Larry Kelly and Octagon
Sports, with CORE Hockey instructors leading
the area’s future all-stars through
power skating, conditioning, over-speed and individual skill drills.

CORE Hockey eagerly looks to expand by
offering winter specialty clinics, as well as
continuing the summer training camps in various communities.
